Thank you for your interest in employment with Valley Center Municipal Water District.

The District serves agricultural, residential, and commercial customers in the beautiful town of Valley Center, located northeast of Escondido in northern San Diego County. Approximately 24,000 people live within the District. The District covers 100 square miles of which approximately 59% receives water services.  

The District provides a highly desirable, comprehensive employee benefits package. Post-offer physical, drug screening, background investigation and acceptable proof of right to work is required. Application packets are available on-line or at the District Office at 29300 Valley Center Road from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday and 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Friday.

Recruitment Process

District Engineer 

Closing Date: Thursday, October 24, 2025.

The District is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of District Engineer. This is an exempt, department director classification responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the work of Engineering Department to include: supervising and directing professional and technical staff in the design, engineering support services and construction of District facilities. Incumbent oversees plan checking, mapping and drafting, field surveys and right-of-way acquisitions. Aids executive management on a variety of administrative, coordinative, analytical, and liaison capacities. Responsibilities include coordinating the activities of the department with those of other departments and outside agencies and managing and overseeing the complex and varied functions of the department.

Maintenance and Utility Worker I 

Closing Date: Open until filled.

The District is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the temporary position of Maintenance and Utility Worker I. Incumbents with basic maintenance experience learn and perform a variety of tasks involved in the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of the District’s facilities. Incumbent may be trained to perform more routine duties as necessary.
