CALCULATING EDU’S:

 

1.         Single Family Residence:

            For example:

A Single Family Residence ( < 4000 sq.ft.) average daily demand would be 1 EDU. Consider 0.25/EDU’s for each additional 1,000 Sq.Ft. or portion thereof

(1 EDU = 250 gallons per day)

           

                        3,000 sq.ft. = 1 EDU

                        5,000 sq.ft. = 1 EDU + .25 = 1.25EDU’s

 

2.         Multi-Family Residences, including Timeshare Units                   1.0 EDU/unit

 

Multi-Family unit applies to additional unit (with separate kitchen) either attached to a single family residence or located on the same lot as a single family residence.  Accessory facilities such as guard shacks, restricted use recreational facilities shall be included in the EDU’s assigned to the multi-family residence.  A minimum monthly sewer charge of 1 EDU shall be required for each accessory facility included in a multi-family development.

 

3.         Mobile Homes & Trailer Parks

 

            a) Mobile Home Retirement Communities                                                 1.0 EDU/unit

            b) Non-retirement Communities                                                                1.0 EDU/unit

            c) Trailer Park                                                                                          1.0 EDU/unit

            d) Recreational Vehicle Park                                                                     1.0 EDU/unit

 

Any accessory facility such as laundry, dining, recreational area, residences, etc. shall be considered separately in additional to trailer spaces.

 

4)         Hotels & Motels                                                                                      0.75 EDU/unit

A minimum 1 EDU shall be required for each connection

 

5)         Food Service Establishments:

            a) No seating (deli, paper plate service, takeout, etc.)                                         3.0 EDU

            b) With Seating                                                                                             30 gpd/seat

            c) Banquet Rooms                                                                                          5 gpd/seat

            d) Bars                                                                                                      17.5 gpd/seat

            A minimum of 3 EDUs shall be required for all food service establishments.

 


6)         Schools:

            a) Staff and office personnel; plus                                                            20 gpd/person

            b) Elementary School                                                                               5 gpd/student

            c) Junior High School                                                                               6 gpd/student

            d) High School                                                                                       10 gpd/student

 

The number of students used in these calculations shall be the number of students for which the school was designed. The number of staff and office personnel used in these calculations shall be the number of students divided by 30

 

7)         Churches, Theaters, Auditoriums (Does not include office spaces, school rooms, day care facilities, food preparation areas, etc. Additional EDUs will be assigned for these supplementary uses.)

            Per seat of rated capacity                                                                            2.5 gpd/seat

 

8)         Commercial, Professional & Industrial Buildings (Establishments not specifically listed herein):

            a) First unit                                                                                                1.2 EDU/unit

            b) Each additional unit                                                                                0.7 EDU/unit

 

For the purposes of this subsection, a unit shall be described as:

 

(1)        Any individual office, store, or industrial establishment with private sanitary fixtures and gross floor area not exceeding 1,000 square feet, or

 

(2)        Each 1,000 square feet of gross floor area in buildings with public sanitary fixtures only.

 

9)         Commercial, Professional and Industrial Condominiums

 

When a commercial, professional, office or industrial building is legally designated a condominium, each individual condominium unit shall be assigned equivalent dwelling units in accordance with type of occupancy or usage (i.e. restaurant, coin laundry, office, retail store, etc.)

 

Where occupancy type or usage is unknown at time of application for service, each unit as a minimum shall be assigned equivalent dwelling units in accordance with Table 5.1(8) above. This shall include but is not limited to shopping centers, industrial parks, professional office buildings, and the commercial units in combined residential-commercial condos.

 

10)       Self Service Laundries                                                                               1.0 EDU/unit

For purposes of this subsection, a unit shall be one washer, unless otherwise approved by the District Engineer.
